Varicose vein laser surgery in Lincoln

You may be surprised to know that 20 to 30 million Americans are at risk for various vascular diseases. Vascular conditions can significantly limit your ability to be active, and in some cases, can cause severe disability. If you regularly experience leg aches, itching, swelling, burning, night cramps, skin damage, or difficulty walking, it may signify an underlying vascular problem. If left untreated, these symptoms can evolve into major health problems such as blood clots, an aneurysm, high blood pressure or a stroke. Read more about our treatments below.

We encourage you to take advantage of our vascular disease screening capabilities. Our screenings include:
• Carotid Artery Scan - A stroke may result from inadequate blood flow to the brain. A scan of the carotid arteries consists of an ultrasound evaluation to detect the most frequent causes of stroke - carotid artery narrowing or blockage.
• Abdominal - Aorta Scan - The abdominal aorta is the largest artery in the human body. It can develop a weakening of the artery wall, resulting in aneurysm formation. As an aneurysm enlarges, the probability of rupture increases, which could be fatal. An ultrasound scan of the aorta can evaluate the size of an aneurysm, if an aneurysm is present and when it needs treatment.
• Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Scan - An ultrasound exam for PAD can determine if there is any impairment of the circulation to the limbs. The exam can identify blood flow limiting plaque buildup (atherosclerosis) of the arteries - which can cause symptoms of cramping at night, during daily activities, or painful sores.

If your screening is positive, we also specialize in minimally-invasive surgeries that achieve excellent results. Since these procedures require only small incisions, you recover more quickly and experience less discomfort than traditional open surgery.

Varicose and Spider Veins treatments in Lincoln

Varicose & Spider Veins

While you may not like the look of spider veins, small varicose veins often create bothersome symptoms of itching and burning pain that continues to increase over time. Larger varicose veins in the leg can cause symptoms of cramping, swelling, general achiness, and sometimes bleeding or ulcer formation. Advanced procedures are now available for vein treatment that enable a quick recovery. Our treatment options include:
  • Sclerotherapy Injection - Non-vital spider (thread-like) veins are injected with a solution that makes them collapse and fade from sight.
  • Endoveneous Laser Ablation Treatment (EVLT) - This treatment for varicose veins openly attacks the lumen of the blood vessel, closing off the damaged area and redirecting the flow of blood to other veins in the leg. EVLT lasts 45 minutes and is done right in our office using only local anesthetic. Most patients return to their regular daily activities immediately.
